I was kinda bored and lonely, so I made a chicken coop and bought all there needs. There almost 12 weeks old. Anyways every night Id have the heat lamp and light in the coop does that irritate them?

Yes, obviously. I’ve had 28 years of experience with raising 12 week old chickens, and I can tell you that a simple heat lamp is definitely not enough to fry them. You’re going to want to douse them in grease and procure a more powerful way to cook them. I find that confectioner’s ovens give them a nice crunchy finish.
It all depends on the weather and environment. when i was raising them i would keep the heat lamp on as well to keep them from freezing, you have to remember chicks are delicate, they don’t mind the light but if it gets to hot that’s when there will be problems.
In my class we hatch chickens (its really fun) Than we put them in a brooder box to play with after they hatch. They need to stay warm so we put a lamp. A lamp isn’t bad without its BAD!
the light is not bothering them but it depends on where you live as to if they still need a light at all. If it is warm during the day but still chilly at night then they only need to be under the light at night, also make sure they have some air blowing through the coop you sound like you got everything together. One last thing you will know they are hot if the beaks are open and their wings are drooping down by their side, that is a indicator they don’t need the heat lamp anymore. Good Luck they are wonderful to raise, and fool with, been doing it all my life have fun.
